The CJ Nelson Outlier is a high-performance displacement speed hull surfboard designed in collaboration between longboarder CJ Nelson and shaper Ryan Engle.
Key Design & Features
Concept: Inspired by the 1970s shortboard revolution and transition-era displacement hulls, it merges longboard glide and paddle power with shortboard maneuverability.
Bottom Contour: Features a dramatic convex "belly" contour under the nose, blending into a flat midsection and a refined tail.
Rails: Thin, "knifey" rails that transition from soft up rails near the nose to hard down rails through the tail.
Construction: Built using Thunderbolt Technologies (EPS core with carbon fiber stringers and PVC/fiberglass shell options like Thunderbolt Black or Red).
